Although many people speak of religion as if it were primarily a matter of belief the interesting thing to notice is how more and more we are beginning to shift towards a Spiritual reawakening in which you are the creator of your own experience life.
One of the ways that we can shift even more towards our own Spiritual reawakening is by giving ourselves reminders of the Spirit that is within and around us.
For instance, when you spend time in nature and actually allow yourself to breathe in the presence of the pure spirit of nature you can’t help but begin to reconnect with that Spirit that is within you as well.
In fact, along these same lines you can begin to notice how the foundations of most religions have you reconnecting with that sense of Spirit as well, whether it be through the rituals of their wedding and funerals with flowers and music or the simple act of blessing a meal.
And it will be very interesting for you to discover for yourself the almost endless amount of ways that you can connect with that presence of Spirit that is within you and all around you.
Of course one of the challenges we face as this shift towards Spiritual reawakening happens is that we are also letting go of many of the rituals, shrines and temples of everyday holiness that the many religions of the worlds have taken centuries to cultivate and maintain.
Believe it or not, when you create your experience of life that lacks any visible signs of the Spirit that is within you, that is when you people can lose their power to heal and have compassion towards others and themselves.
That why I want you to understand, just understand that when you begin to meditate on a daily basis you are actually creating a visible sign within yourself that lets you know you are indeed connected with that Spirit that is within you as Love, Joy and Peace.
And there is really no need to be aware of the abundance of benefits that meditating on a daily basis will bring you. Yet, the truth is that people who meditate on a daily basis notice sooner rather than later how meditating opens you up to entirely brand new world of possibilities.
I have found the practice of Yoga Nidra to be one of the most powerful guided meditation techniques that I can use to help reconnect with me that Spirit of Love, Joy, and Peace that is within me and so much more.

BUILD YOUR LIFE ON PURPOSE
I read a story, years ago, about a man who seemingly had it all. He was successful, influential, wealthy, and admired by many. It shocked me greatly to hear that he tried to end his life early, until I discovered the reason he had decided to do so!
For many years he had lived his life to please his parents, teachers, co-workers, associates, clients, etc. He had an image of what he thought was the ultimate status in life; he followed that picture fully! Though a gnawing sense of emptiness had plagued his heart, for years, he had submerged it under his vision to become a success in the eyes of others!
Never wait till emptiness consumes you to ask yourself the question, is my life on track with my true purpose? There is one human we must satisfy with our life’s direction, that is us! Success is relative to our pursuit of purpose!
I have a number of mentors who have encouraged me greatly over the years. The one common denominator that consistently stirs me forward is their passionate pursuit of purpose. Nothing else in life can satisfy the longing for destiny in the human heart!
A life that is built on purpose is dramatically different, in the end, than one propped up by a desire to please others. The book of Proverbs describes a desire to please others as a dangerous trap (Proverbs 29:25). It then declares that those who put their trust in God will be safe! The only way to live a satisfying and successful life is to fully trust in God for direction (Proverbs 3:5-6). Relying on our limited understanding may lead us astray!
4 foundations to build your life on purpose
A life of purpose will come to those who intentionally pursue it. By building on the following foundations we ensure a satisfying and successful life, right to the very end!
1. Discover your true purpose
There are two distinctive aspects about true purpose that make it unique. First, it can only be discovered from within; this is due to the second aspect. Second, it was programed and placed within us by our creator!
To discover the inner triggers to our purpose we must ask the following questions: What makes me sad? What makes me mad? What makes me glad? What would I love to work at for free? What tasks do I find easy to accomplish? What thoughts inspire energy and passion in me? What dreams inspired me as a child? What do I daydream about? Is there a hobby that I feel especially drawn to? What thoughts consistently reoccur during my personal prayer and devotional times? Etc…
By asking questions, like these, we begin to get a picture of our ultimate purpose. The more specific the questions, the clearer the picture becomes! Note, this process must not be glossed over or rushed, and it must certainly not be persuaded by a desire to please others! The pursuit of anything other than our true purpose will result in regret.
2. Make an action plan
The next foundation is to begin actively pursuing our purpose by implementing a simple, daily action plan. Begin with the following question: How can I start today? Make a list of ten things you could do right now to begin the process even if they are just small steps (gaining new information, asking questions of others, visit a specific company, or read a book on a specific topic). As we begin on the right path, other action steps will emerge! Document these and plan to do them! Don’t allow procrastination to hinder your journey.
3. Pursue mentors
We follow those who are going where we want to go ourselves! It may not necessarily be a similar vocation but it is essential that they are purpose driven! If we follow people who are inspired by their life’s passion and purpose, it will soon be apparent to us, and them, if we become motivated by something other than our true purpose!
4. Remember the one who gave you the purpose
A life inspired by God shall remain on course with the purpose that was deposited within! That is why it is necessary for all of us to discover and pursue a real, living relationship with our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ! Only He has the instructions to complete the journey! Develop a consistent, daily schedule of prayer and bible reading to refresh your perspective! His instructions will involve us in something that is bigger than ourselves, leading to significance, success and joy!
Discovering and pursuing a life on purpose is a choice that will protect us from regrets later on. We truly can be inspired towards a significant destiny!
My hope for you is that you fulfill your life’s purpose!

Spirituality and health are two subjects that need to be considered together. Your spiritual journey may feel more difficult than it needs to, if your health–both physical and psychological–isn’t optimum.
Initially people on a spiritual journey often become fully entranced with the beautiful new spaces of consciousness they’re reaching through their spiritual practices or reading. This is understandable. For some of us, discovering the spiritual aspect of our lives–and the veritable smorgasbord of spiritual subjects to be studied and experienced–can be all-consuming. It’s easy to forget that there are other aspects of our being that also need attention, such as our physical body and our mind.
I’ve had a number of clients and students over the years who have belatedly found this out: that focusing on their spirituality alone is not, in the end, an optimal way to live. If your body is not functioning properly, it will ultimately distract you from deeply meditating and being able to fully concentrate on the aspects of your spiritual journey you wish to study.
Likewise, if you have tendencies toward depression, anxiety or other chemical imbalances, these too will prevent you from being able to make progress on your spiritual journey. Spirituality and health must both be attended to.
Spirituality and Physical Health
Physical health is essential for your spiritual health. When healthy, your body can more easily assimilate higher spiritual frequencies, and you can also be more sensitive to these energies.
Healthy Diet: To begin with, a healthy diet can help you feel more awake and conscious in meditation, as well as more alert to hearing and sensing inner guidance. Cutting out sugar, caffeine and alcohol is a good start. If abstaining from them altogether is too hard, then ingesting them in moderation can help. All three of these substances, aside from not being healthy for your body, are also mind-altering in a way that can hinder your progress on your spiritual journey.
Exercise: Physical exercise is equally important. Aside from bringing oxygen into your cells, lungs and bloodstream–all very important–exercise also releases stuck energy inside you that can cause a sense of sluggishness or depression, and an accompanying lack of interest in doing anything that would enhance your spiritual growth. Any sport that appeals to you is helpful, as is hiking and simple walking. Of course, certain exercise methods such as yoga or tai chi will not only keep you physically fit, they are also designed to enhance your spiritual awakening.
Protecting Yourself from EMFs: A further consideration people are often unaware of is that electromagnetic fields (EMFs) that emanate from our cell phones, computers, appliances and cell towers really adversely affect our health. They can give us headaches and make us dizzy or nauseous; they erode our immune system and mess with our nervous system. If you’re having difficulty either physically or mentally when you meditate, you might check to see what electrical devices you have nearby (especially wireless ones.)
But, in today’s world, it is hard to get away from EMFs. Who wants to give up their cell phone or computer? And where can you go to get away from cell towers–they’re all around us.
A way to solve all this is by using protective devices. There are a number of them on the market, but some look rather iffy and not backed by any science. Check out EarthCalm.com for devices you can test for 90 days with a full guarantee.
Spirituality and Mental Health
I’ve also had a number of students over the years who were quite advanced spiritually–very awake and mature in their spiritual practices–but who kept getting pulled back by a chemical imbalance in their brain. As hard as they’d try to resolve their problems with spiritual resolve and discipline, they were constantly being distracted and dragged down by depression or anxiety–or by the roller coaster ride of mood swings.
Sometimes you can deal with mood imbalances with concerted efforts of a spiritual nature, but sometimes the battle is just too great. The emotions are too strong; you feel too overwhelmed to transcend them.
Psychotherapy and/or Drugs: In this case, I usually advise a student to complement his or her spiritual practice with psychotherapy for a while–and even, when necessary, with anti-depressant and anti-anxiety drugs prescribed by a psychiatrist.
This suggestion is often met with resistance within the spiritual community. There seems to be a belief that spirituality should be able to “conquer all ills.” Maybe this is true if someone is especially advanced on his or her spiritual journey. But most people I know cannot overcome the tendencies of a severe imbalance in brain chemistry with the spiritual practices they know. It’s just too hard. And to make matters worse, they often feel a sense of failure and inadequacy when they don’t succeed.
It’s extremely important to bring about a sense of emotional balance first by whatever means possible–so that you can focus clearly and fully on your spiritual practice.
Your spiritual life and your health work hand in hand together. One enhances the other. Don’t forget that you’re here to take care of ALL of you on your spiritual journey–both your spirituality and your health.
